Abstract

This thesis addresses the disconnect between the coastal city and it’s waterfront. After decades of industrial development roads, railways, buildings and barriers have severed this connection leaving the coastal city with a void alongside it’s greatest natural resource. This thesis proposes a strategy to reconnect the city of St. John’s with it’s waterfront by repairing the existing urban fabric and layering both public and industrial space. With a desire for post industrial uses along it’s industrial harbour, St. John’s must balance both needs, maximizing it’s limited waterfront space.
