Abstract

The study explores Tire-derived aggregates (TDA) for reuse, valued for their lightweight, strong conductivity, insulation, and damping properties. It investigates TDA's impact on a Cut & Cover railway tunnel's load mitigation and lining relief, using Plaxis-3D models. Results show significant reduction in static load and improved stability, indicating TDA's potential to prevent structural collapse. The study employs a Hardening Soil Model elastoplastic model and analyzes three scenarios: one-TDA layer, two-TDA layer, and TDA-surrounded tunnel. Overall, it evaluates TDA's effectiveness in optimizing bending moment, reducing deformation, and highlighting its resilience-enhancing properties. The insights gained are crucial for future engineering applications, underlining the importance of TDA's recoverable deformation.
