Abstract
Mi‘kmaw directors represent land, language, violence, and gender/sexuality in ways that address intergenerational colonial trauma and support cultural survival. We conducted interviews with three Mi‘kmaw directors (Jeff Barnaby, Bretten Hannam, and Cathy Martin), and critically analyzed their films, Rhymes For Young Ghouls, North Mountain, and The Spirit of Annie Mae.
