dc.description.abstractThis study was occasioned by the unexpected suspension of operations of the Mi'kmaq Justice Institute (MJI). The MJI, centred in the native court worker program (NCWP) but evolving into an umbrella organization for a variety of Mi'kmaq justice projects and initiatives, began in January 1997 and ceased operations in the Spring of 1999.en_US
