In this study we compared the effects of 15-min and 45-min PMO on the size of the deviation, on the near-distance disparity, and on the AC/A estimation at for 22 patients with divergence excess intermittent exotropia. The mean age of study participants was 8 years of age , ranging from 5 to 14 years old. As per study findings, there is no statistically significant difference in the size of the near and distance deviation following 15 or 45 minutes of prolonged monocular occlusion. Both patching durations resulted in a clinically significant increase in the size of near deviation, but not at distance. The baseline near-distance disparity collapsed to within 10pd after both 15 and 45 minutes of monocular occlusion with no statistically significant difference between the two patching durations. Additionally, the AC/A ratio was estimated using near gradient method is clinically and statistically equivalent after both patching durationsen_US
