dc.description.abstract | This thesis examines how the design of a rural and connected hub can enhance creative work, and add value to a rural community. Rural areas have less job opportunity compared to their urban counterparts, but in this ‘information era’ physical boundaries no longer need to dictate where people live, work and create. The proposed project will seek to define and describe collaborative spaces and resources for entrepreneurs and creators by offering an inspirational and healing natural workplace, away from urbanity. The architecture will stimulate social activity and through collaborating design with nature, stimulate creativity. The general program is a mix of community education, office space, and on-site housing, the exact program will depend on the location. The initial prototype will be developed in the context of British Columbia, near the village of Pemberton, but will remain adaptable and applicable to other rural landscapes around the world. | en_US |
