REPRÉSENTATIONS DU FAIT POLITIQUE DANS LES PETITS GARÇONS NAISSENT AUSSI DES ÉTOILES D’EMMANUEL DONGALA
Abstract
In this study, we show representations of political events in LES PETITS GARÇONS NAISSENT AUSSI DES ÉTOILES. Indeed, in this novel, Emmanuel Dongala depicts tangible African realities, with a balanced dose of fiction, humor and realism, through the eyes of an innocent but curious child. This research work seeks to analyze, from the angle of political disenchantment, the African political events that are revealed by the text. The starting point of this reflection is the incongruous birth of the narrator character that we see as a political metaphor for the advent of democracy in Congo. Next, we examine satirical figures to denounce the failure of intellectuals and dictatorial regimes that have undermined the practice of democracy in Africa. Finally, we approach the African-style of democracy described as “democracy of the fetishists” to show the stammering of the beginnings of democracy in Africa.
