Abstract

The goal of the authors of this article is to discuss the specific form of repetition that Umberto Eco calls "remake". The serial aspect of remakes is based on the systematic use of processes of repetition that produce texts so close to the original model, as to appear almost indistinguishable. A study of the theme of "desert romances" allows for a better understanding of the present evolution of the canons of aesthetics, as well as of the upheaval it caused in textual interpretation.

Les auteures se proposent dans cet article de présenter la forme particulière de redite qu'Umberto Eco a définie comme étant un remake. Le phénomène sériel du remake est basé sur l'emploi (systématique) de processus de répétition qui tendent à produire des textes ressemblant au modèle original au point d'en être de quasi-copies conformes. L'analyse de ce phénomène à travers le cas d'espèce du roman du désert leur permet de mieux cerner l'évolution actuelle des canons de l'esthétique et les bouleversements que cette évolution a introduits dans les habitudes d'interprétation des textes.

L'intenzione degli autori di questo articolo è di presentare la forma particolare di ripetizione che Umberto Eco definisce remake. Il fenomeno di serie del remake è basato sull'impiego (sistematico) di processi di ripetizione tendenti a produrre dei testi che assomigliano al modello originale a tal punto da esserne praticamente dei duplicati indistinguibili. L'analisi di questo fenomeno, attraverso l'esempio dei romanzi del deserto, permette loro di capire meglio l'evoluzione attuale dei canoni dell'estetica e gli sconvolgimenti introdotti da questa evoluzione nelle abitudini d'interpretazione dei testi.

Die Autoren stellen in diesem Beitrag die besondere von Umberto Eco als remake bezeichnete Wiederholung vor. Das Serienphänomen des Remakes gründet auf einem systematischen Gebrauch einer Produktion von Texten, die sich allesamt einem Original so weit annähern, daß sie fast identische Abschriften darstellen. Am Beispiel des Wüstenromans zeichnen sie die aktuelle Entwicklung des ästhetischen Kanons nach und markieren die Wirkungen, die diese auf die Interpretation der Texte zeitigte.
