Known as “the Russian Beardsley”, he was a graphic artist for the journal Vesy[The Scales; La Balance]. He was a member of such groups of artists as “Venok” [“The Wreath”] (1907-1908), “Golubaia roza” [“The Blue Rose”] (1907-1908), “Mir Iskusstva” [“The World of Art”], “Chetyre iskusstva” [“Four Arts”] (1924-1931).
