dc.description.abstract | By programmatically and spatially addressing inclusiveness through social architecture, the negative impacts of gentrification happening in Chicago's neighborhood of Pilsen - through loss of culture and displacement of residents - is addressed. This thesis explores concepts of land usage, density of amenities and housing, and provides a framework allowing varied appropriation through a set of architectural principles. New interventions including a multi use community room and co-op housing will benefit the community as well as reinforce its ethnically diverse culture through spaces that foster varying appropriation and collective use. | en_US |
