Francois Tremblay, BSc (Université de Montréal), PhD (Université de Montréal)
Manager, Electrophysiologist, IWK Health Centre Visual Electrodiagnosis Unit
Dr. Tremblay is an electrophysiologist with a very active research program that spans basic science and clinical investigation. As a member of Dalhousie’s Retina and Optic Nerve Research Lab, he has lab space on the 15th floor of the Sir Charles Tupper Medical Building (across the street from the hospital) where he pursues his interests in the neurobiology of the vertebrate retina, neuroprotection and neutraceutics. To investigate applicability of these results to humans, Dr. Tremblay extends these basic science investigations to include clinical studies though his work at the IWK Health Centre and membership in the Pediatric Vision Science Research Group. His broad clinical interests include clinical electrodiagnostic investigations of vision and the pathophysiology of inherited retinal diseases. Dr. Tremblay is an excellent example of the benefits of integrating basic and clinical pursuits, and the success of this strategy is evident in his excellent publication record and ability to attract funding from many sources.
