This work is an attempt to analyse the novel Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge using a Heideggerian approach, by means of the text Wozu Dichter? by Heidegger. In the analysis of the first part of the novel Malte is identified with the poet, who through poetry heralds the truth to the people [– a Heideggerian position]. The truth has to be understood in the Heideggerian sense as “das Sichereignen des Seins aus dem Verborgenen”. However, Malte does not succeed in telling the truth through poetry and therefore decides in the second part of the novel to take the path of love to bring the truth to light.en_US
